Workers Compensation Claims - WorkCover Claim
What is Workers Compensation or WorkCover Claims?
If you have suffered a work injury in the course of your employment you may be entitled to workers compensation payments, regardless of fault, under the Victorian WorkCover scheme. In addition, if you have sustained a serious injury causing permanent impairment by reason of another party’s negligence, you may be able to sue for substantial work injury compensation by bringing a common law claim for damages.
Why is it important to get legal advice for a work injury claim?
It is important to seek legal advice at the earliest opportunity from an experienced workers compensation lawyer to make sure your interests are taken care of and you have the best chance of receiving fair and just workers compensation. If you don’t fully understand your compensation rights and entitlements you may not receive appropriate WorkCover compensation entitlements.
"I believe I have been injured at work and would like to make a claim. What is my next step?"
In order to claim, you must first advise your employer of the work injury and then lodge a formal WorkCover claim.
Remember: It is mandatory to supply medical evidence from your doctor to support your WorkCover claim.
Benefits: After your workers compensation claim has been lodged and liability accepted, you may be entitled to -
• Reasonable Medical Expenses;
• Reasonable Rehabilitation Expenses;
• Lump sum compensation for a permanent injury or a serious injury;
• Loss of earnings and weekly payments;
See a step by step process on our 'How to make a WorkCover Claim' page'.
